Bible Question:
Hi* and Help!* I have searched for years for this prophesy but can not find it. I need to know where in the Old Testament it prophesises that the Jewish people would have scales on their eyes and not until the last days will they be removed and see that Jesus is the Messiah or Savior... or anything close to this, as to why they did not recognize Him as the Messiah the first time He came. You see I need something to tell Jewish people when they ask me about the Messiah, when they ask..."then why are there still Jewish people today who don't believe in Jesus. And why don't the Rabbis teach He is the Messiah". What are the strongest prophesises to give them to show them why many Jewish people do not see. I know some did,and do now, but most did not, and do not now. Thank you so so so much! Much Love!*:), New Creation in Christ*:) |
Bible Answer: Dear brother: New Creature in Christ In Isaiah we read "For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of a deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered" Isaiah 29:11 This verse is referred to by Paul in Rom. 11:8 God gives the reason for this in verse in Isaiah 29:13 We see the reality of this in the words of the Lord Jesus as he wept over Jerusalem: "If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day the things which belong to thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes." Luke 19:32 We must remember that it was Israel nationally that was set aside because of unbelief and that that the grace of God was extended to individuals who accepted him. "He came unto his own (people)and his own received him not. But as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" (John 1:11-12) The amazing thing is that God shows us how his will is brought about. In Romans 11: we learn that Israel has been set aside as a nation because of unbelief. They are the tame olive branches which have been broken off, that the gentiles might be grafted in. The warning to the gentiles is not to boast, that this is all of the grace of God. In verse 24 he speaks of the natural branches who will be grafted in again. "For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystrey, lest you should be wise in your own conceits: that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. In other words God has set his people aside nationally, that the gentiles might be saved. He will again turn to Israel when his purposes with Gentiles are fulfilled. I hope this is helpful Your brother by his grace alone Robert |
