Subject: This teaching that God will whisper... |
Bible Note: Kalos Hank While I agree with your point let me say this is nothing new. In effect it has been going on since around the time of the Reformation. With the age of enlightenment people asuumed responsibility to decide what doctrine was correct and therefore they would or would not support. Thus the thousands of denominations we have today. I have people tell me they know what they say is true becsue they have A. proof text ripped from context to prove their point. B. The Holy spirit has reavealed that truth to them. C. They have experienced it and thus know it is fact. D. God spoke to them in vision or whisper. If we watch one day of Christian TV we will hear all of these methods used by TV preachers to make and prove their point. However no one wants to do a systematic Bible study reconciling each point with another until they get the true teaching of God. That's work and they have enough work they have to do to go looking for more. The point that I find interesting is when someone disagrees with what they say either because they have studied it or by quoting a theological expert. The corrected person always responses that they hope the person correcting will allow the Holy Spirit to show them the truth or that we are not to judge each other. They never say oh I never realized I was mistaken/decieved and your right the Bible does say that. Ah! the Age of enlightenment where each decides for himself what is right and what is wrong, then finds a Bible verse that seems to agree. EdB |
