Bible Note: Hank: Excellent post! An observation: some time ago (by that I mean more than a year ago) on the forum certain persons were of the opinion that "me and my Bible" are all I need to interpret and understand the meaning of the Bible text. As you then pointed out, the logical conclusion to this line of thinking is why bother to send out missionaries? Why not just mail out Bibles to the unevangelized and let them figure it out for themselves? As if that thinking were not preposterous enough, now we read the idea that even the Bible is not necessary. It makes you wonder, if this is true, then why did God bother to give us His Word? Why does He bother to send out missionaries and evangelists? Apparently, there is no need for either Bibles or missionaries. And why on earth would we need teachers? Psalm 19 tells us the heavens declare the glory of God. Certainly the creation is evidence of a Creator. But it tells us nothing of the Redeemer or of the Good News of salvation. Hank, why, oh why, do we even spend so much time and effort attempting to answer the questions of people who have an unteachable spirit, people whose minds are already made up, people who are convinced that they know it all? In their case I would not argue with their assertion that "no man" can teach them anything. How do you teach someone who already knows everything there is to know? Woe is me! All these years I have learned the Bible the old-fashioned way when others learned by the "quick-fix" method. -- kalos P.S. I suppose that before I consider my Questions and Answers oficially ignored, I will have to post them directly to people I had in mind when I wrote them. :-) ******************** 'If you never admit when you are wrong, you will not be able to convince anyone in a discussion of your position.
