Subject: Are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? |
Bible Note: Hi Mommapbs, Excellent thoughts here I think. There are a couple of things that you might consider however. 1) Ezekiel 36:26 talks about our receiving a heart of flesh instead of the heart of stone. So when applying this passage to our lives as believers, the heart is still flesh. You have said, "Daily we have a choice, to live from the heart or live from the flesh." Romans 8:1-14". I think that it would be better said that we have a choice to live according to the (s)Spirit or walking according to the flesh. 2) We set our minds according to the things of the (Spirit). Romans 8:5. And in the same way the (Spirit) also helps our weakness. Romans 8:26 1 Cor 7:32, "But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; 33 but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, 34 and his interests are divided. And the woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the (Lord), that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 34 And this I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is seemly, and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord." 3) I have penciled in a lower case "spirit" for Ezekiel 36:27. That spirit within us is the power that the Spirit gives us. That spirit is the new heart, that spirit is what we should be filled with, that spirit is what we should clothe ourselves with as the holy ones chosen of God. Colossians 3:12, "And so, as tose who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the (Lord) forgave you, so also should you. 14 And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity." The word of Christ richly dwells within us, and we should be filled with joy and the holy spirit, teaching and admonishing one another. 4) We are to live godly lives, but God is the Holy One, the only true God; and we are simply saints or holy ones. In Ezekiel 36:23 the Spirit of God is proved holy among us. From the heart, Ray |
