Subject: Are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? |
Bible Note: Hi Mommapbs, Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?" Perhaps you could contribute some thoughts to #137809 so that we can decide whether we are trying to have a heart of a god or of God. How much are we capable of doing on our own? How much are we capable of doing even if we have help from God? Jeremiah 17:9, "I, the Lord,/ search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds." Contrast/compare Ezekiel 28:2 Ezek 28:2, "...Because your heart is lifted up And you have said, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas'; Yet you are a man and not God/, Although you make your heart like the heart of God--" Again, do we want to make our hearts out to be like a god's or like the heart of God? What are we capable of? What does Satan think that he is capable of? Ezekiel 28:2, NKJ, "Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Because your heart is lifted up, And you say, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,' Yet you are a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of god 3 (Behold,...and your heart is lifted up because of your riches)," The NKJ sees the subject of the passage as having set his heart as the heart of a god, while the NASB reads "Like the heart of God". What do you think? Psalm 82:6, "I, on my part said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High. Nevertheless you will die like men, And fall like any one of the princes." 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is Thou who dost possess all the nations." From the heart, Ray |
