Bible Question: What it mean by: For this reason. reason for what? |
Bible Answer: Hi Believe, Welcome to the forum. I think that the Amplified version printed above gives a good starting point. That version puts in brackets an explanation of "For this reason". In other words, we bow our knees to the Father because we see the greatness of this plan by which we all are built together in Christ. We are built together in Christ by the one Spirit. The body of Christ is built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. After these statements in chapter two we find another "For this reason" which starts chapter 3. These spiritual things were not revealed or made known in other generations. Through faith in Christ we have access in one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:18, "for through Him we both [Jews and Gentiles] have our ACCESS in one (Spirit) to the Father." Parentheses mine for comparison with the following verse. Ephesians 3:12, "in whom we have boldness and CONFIDENT ACCESS through faith in Him...For this reason, I bow my knees before the (Father), from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strenthened with [spiritual] power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;..." Ephesians 4:3, "...being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;..." 1 Corinthians 12:11, "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as (He) wills." 1 Corinthians 6:18, "But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him...Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy (Spirit) who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." The Father that we will bow down to is Spirit. From the heart, Ray |
