AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 1:4 just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love |
Subject: Theological Term: Election |
Bible Note: Thanks, Doc, for defining the theological term, election. Lest anyone become jittery and charge that Calvinism, as they understand it, is again being "pushed" on this Forum, my pre-emptive response is, "No, it is not." Posting definitions of theological terms is not "pushing" anything. The purpose of a theological dictionary is didactic, not to persuade but to educate; to disseminate information, not to invite debate. Knowledge dispels ignorance, and an accurate knowledge of the precise meaning of the theological terms that the church has used for centuries is far more likely to unite than divide and to shed light than spread confusion. Some days ago, Doc, I requested that you enter posts from time to time dealing with definitions of various theological words and concepts. Thanks for accepting my challenge. You are doing a wonderful job and rendering an excellent service to Study Bible Forum. --Hank |
