NASB | Galatians 6:17 ¶ From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 6:17 ¶ From now on let no one trouble me [by making it necessary for me to justify my authority as an apostle, and the absolute truth of the gospel], for I bear on my body the branding-marks of Jesus [the wounds, scars, and other outward evidence of persecutions--these testify to His ownership of me]. |
Bible Question: What were the "marks of the Lord Jesus"? |
Bible Answer: Hi prayon, As you can see with the NASB translation above, they have the brand-marks of Jesus. Isaiah 44:5- "This one will say, 'I am the Lord's"...And another will write on his hand, 'Belonging to the Lord.'" They are (His) chosen. Ezekiel 9:4, "And the Lord said to him...put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst." They are the ones sorry for their sins. 2Corinthians 4:10,"always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body." These are the ones that have the same spirit of faith. 2Corinthians 11:23, "Are they servants of Christ?" These are servants of Christ, but Paul says he could boast even more for all the things he had gone through and endured, even being able to show the marks of lashings for His sake. Rev. 13:16, "Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with (Him) one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads." These are the ones chosen by Him, called by Him, and they walk in Him, Colossians 2:6 These are the reference verses in the Inductive Study Bible for Galatians 6:17. |
