NASB | Galatians 5:2 ¶ Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 5:2 ¶ Notice, it is I, Paul, who tells you that if you receive circumcision [as a supposed requirement of salvation], Christ will be of no benefit to you [for you will lack the faith in Christ that is necessary for salvation]. |
Subject: What does Galatians 5 Verse 2 Mean? |
Bible Note: I believe you're correct but just to add the circumcision spoken of in this verse is the PHYSICAL CIRCUMCISION spoken of in the Law. This is to be distinguished from the circumcision spoken of by Paul in Romans which is an INWARD CIRCUMCISION of the HEART. Romans 2:28,29 28For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. 29But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God. |
