AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 3:28 There is [now no distinction in regard to salvation] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you [who believe] are all one in Christ Jesus [no one can claim a spiritual superiority]. [Rom 3:22; 1 Cor 12:13] |
Bible Question:
Is there any condemnation of slavery in the Bible? By God? By Jesus? Paul? Peter? Others? These verses seem to support "slavery": Exodus 21...22 Book of Philenmon Titus 2: 9 1 Timothy 6:1 Colossians 3:22 Ephesians 6:5 |
Bible Answer: Slavery at that time, was okay in God's sight because the master was to deal with his or her sevant as a brother or sister in Christ. Philemon 10,11, 16. So the answer to your question is no the Bible dose not condemn. (1 Tim. 6:1). So sacred is the authority of God and his doctrine, those early saints were obliged to be good slaves that such truths be not injured. [The sweet influences of the Christian religion would, of course, in time cause the vile business of slavery to lose much of its grip on humanity.] |
