Bible Note: CurtMan. By the pen name, I mean you are not curt, quick to cut people off. I mean it as sincere jest of respect and kindness. I for the last 38 years have had one serious illness after the next. I spent a yesr in a US Navy hospital. I have seldom gone a year with out being in the hospital. I see the specialists the least is thre times a month. For a long time I keep looking at Romans *:28 and could see no good coming from any of this suffering. Then when I had reached a braking piont I prayed to the Lord to show me why Romans 8:28 was not true for me. I was desperate, and upset at the Lord. Them the Lord led me to read verse 29. There is said we are to be conformed to the likeness of Jesus His Son. How was that conformity to come? Through suffering! I then began to track verses in Scripture that deal with suffering. I now have a very lengthy thread and have seen that through suffering we are conformed to Christ likeness. With that It makes no difference if I see the good or not, it is the Lord who knows the why and hows of it all. That changed my life of pain and physically challenged body. I also am glad the Lord made me a type A personality, or I might have given up long ago. C. S. Lewis has writen some excellent works on suffering. The movie ShadowLands is very good and well worth buying if you ever can find it. I have watched it many times and that got me interested in Lewis's books. Yes we have a number of things in common. However the best of all is our shared salvation in Jesus Christ. Blessings. justme |
