Bible Question (short): A Perversion of the Truth-Gal. 1:7 |
Question (full): Good Morning Truthfinder, I was wondering where in scripture I could find the fact that in order to understand God’s word, I have to join and submit to an organization. “Jehovah poured out his spirit on them and assigned them the responsibility of serving as his sole visible channel through whom alone spiritual instruction was to come. Those who recognize Jehovah’s visible theocratic organization therefore, must recognize and accept appointment of the Faithful and Discreet Slave, and be submissive to it.” The Watchtower, Oct. 01, 1967 “Jehovah is a God of unity and harmony. He wants his earthly servants united, and so He has made understanding the Bible today dependent upon association with His organization.” The Watchtower 01, 1961 “He does not impart his holy spirit and an understanding and appreciation of His Word apart from His visible organization.” The Watchtower July 01, 1965 Personally I think this type of belief contradicts a number of biblical principles, but hey, each man must choose his own way. I just need to know where in the bible I could go to support all this. Over in Gal. Chp. 1, Paul was confronting the church because some people where preaching a distorted message. Paul called them accursed. He implied that if anyone at anytime preached a message different than what he himself taught, that they themselves be accursed. Do you think that the Watchtower falls into that category?? Do you think that their beliefs and Paul’s beliefs are the same beliefs?? I mean I know that the Watchtower’s beliefs may differ from the Judaizer’s beliefs, but are the Watchtower’s beliefs on the same accord as Paul’s beliefs?? And if they are, then how are the above quotations justified?? Paul also indicated something else that I truly appreciated as well. Paul indicated that he knew the truth of scripture was just that, the truth. And he know this not because of some scholar declared it to be true, but because Jesus Himself declared it unto him. Personally I can relate to that. I believe scripture to be true not because of someone with a pH or whatever, but because Jesus Himself declared them unto me through the Spirit, through my personal experiences, and through my personal relationship with Him.
