Bible Note: Johnny- I don't believe that prayon is saying that unless you tithe you are not righteous. I think what sheis saying is that it is a very good guideline. We are released from the law of Moses (Levitical law), but there are good guidelines in it. No, we don't have to keep holy the Sabbath, but it is good to have one day of the week to focus on God and give Him honor. And no, we don't have a dietary law, but it is good to fast with prayer also. I believe that if you are prayerfully considering what to give to the church, what Jesus commended (not COMMANDED), would be over 10 per cent (considering the widow's mite), but I don't see too many people giving all of their yearly income to the church! The amount mentioned most often in scripture is 10 per cent, so as a guideline, I would recommend it. Debbie |
