Bible Question: I am coming out of Jehovah's Witness's , I have given my life to Jesus as my savior. I am still confussed about going to heaven. I see so many scriptures saying at the ressurection during the trib and that the dead are asleep. Could someone please help me to see where the scriptures say if you are saved in Christ you will go to heaven and what about post trib. Just what is the scripture teaching about that? Thank you . It is written |
Bible Answer: PTL for saving you. The Bible uses "sleep" as metaphor for death because to one living, it appears as though they sleep. But search and study these passages. Paul says, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (heaven...and no soul sleep). John 14, Jesus told his disciples that he goes to prepare a place for them (us) in his Father's house (heaven). 1 Thess 4:13-18 "and so we shall always be with the Lord" after the rapture and we meet the Lord in the air. Luke 16:19, a teaching of Jesus to be taken as it is written and not made into an abstract story, is about the afterlife. The soul is eternal and does not sleep. Also, read Rev 7:9 and find that the "great crowd" are standing "before the throne and this scene is in heaven. There are references to earth refer to the Millennial Kingdom which is earthly for 1000 years. But our hope and promise as believes is for heaven. I hope this helps. |
