Bible Question: Romans 11:7..."the election hath obtained and the rest were blinded. Does this mean that some were elected by God for salvation and others were not? |
Bible Answer: No, the Jews are God's chosen people. You have to go back to the earlier verses. Most of Israel rejected God and worshiped Baal and the remainder (the remnant) were the ones that beleived and kept God's commandments and such their descendants are the ones who have accepted Jesus(the election of Grace unto this day). It is by Grace that we are saved. The rest, because of their past denial of God, their rejection of his beloved son Jesus are therefor blinded but their past denial also opened the door for the Gentiles. Make no mistake about it, Jesus came for all. He knew the hearts of the Jews and that they would not and did not accept him. He made a purposeful journey to Samaria to spread his word to the Gentiles. It's everyone's choice whether or not to accept Jesus. God will be patient only so long, the Holy Spirit will only call them to salvation so much before the knocking on the door of their hearts will stop. Salvation is come for everyone, unfortunately not everyone will accept Jesus. Acts 13:46 "Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you(the Jews): but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles".
