Bible Question:
Is it possible for a believer to be so "heavenly minded that he/she is no earthly good?" Please explain your answer. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Mommabps! Is it possible to be "too heavenly minded"?? How far can we go?? Is there any 'ceiling' in walking with God? Elijah and Enoch knew no such 'ceiling.' Excellent question. I believe that there is no such thing as "going too far with God." As we continue to walk and immerse our lives in the Spirit, we continue to find our flesh as less and less appealing. The sure-fire antidote to any sin is to walk in the Spirit. Sure, we can get rid of things, or try to "beat" sin out of our flesh.. But the mind will always return you to your sin and remind you of it unless you cleanse your mind by walking in the Spirit (Rom. 12:2). So how far can we walk in His Spirit? Just how far can we go? Only as far as we will let Him take us. It is a question of our will- we will all feel very much ashamed if we do not yield to Him to the point that He has asked us to yield to Him. We must surrender our will over to Him, an absolute and irrevocable surrender to Him. An over-consideration of ourselves results in our hesitation, and no worker is fit for the plow if he looks back. God knows exactly what our obedience to Him will cost ourselves and all others around us. He knows. We must be determined and of one will with His- to shut out all consideration and debate, to keep yourself before God for this one thing only - to give your all to Him as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1). I am determined to be absolutely and entirely for Him and for Him alone. Whether this means life or death, no matter! :-) Abandon all thought of the outside consequences! Abandon totally to Him! We must surrender our will to Him, absolutely and irrevocably. When we do this, our Spiritual journey has begun, and may it never, ever, ever end!!! Makarios |
