Bible Question: would you please explain the Biblical meaning of Gossip |
Bible Answer: Dear 561joshua01, 2 Corinthians 12:20: For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish--that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder. I lean towards "slanderous whispering". Strong has the word for gossip, psithurismos, "From a derivative of psithos (a whisper; by implication a slander; probably akin to pseudomai); whispering, that is, secret detraction: - whispering. pseudomai: Middle voice of an apparently primary verb; to utter an untruth or attempt to deceive by falsehood: - falsely, lie. Hope this helped. Stand in His grace, WOS |
