NASB | 2 Corinthians 1:12 ¶ For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 1:12 ¶ This is our [reason for] proud confidence: our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world [in general], and especially toward you, with pure motives and godly sincerity, not in human wisdom, but in the grace of God [that is, His gracious lovingkindness that leads people to Christ and spiritual maturity]. |
Bible Question: I am in an environment that is predominately Christian but there is a growing Muslim population. One of things the muslims use is a book they have that attacks many passages of scripture. Most of the issues are either missunderstood or copyist errors. Obviously not having any real relevance on the infalibility of the scriptures. What I'd like to know is there a book that helps Christians defend themselves from these attacks and perhaps shows the failure of the Koran? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Jlbanks... Fortunately, we do not need to defend ourselves. Our God is fully capable of doing that. :-) However, we can be prepared with a response. The best preparation is, of course, a thorough and growing understanding of the Word. Knowing Church History might also be of help. The Quoran has not been subjected to the intense scrutiny of the Bible. The Moslems state that 97 percent of the Scripture has been corrupted. However, they have no basis on which to assert the correctness of the the final 3 percent. :-) They have no concept of grace, no certainty of salvation, and little notion of the true heinous nature of sin. They have Muhammad but we "are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses." Nevertheless, here is a web site that might help you: http://www.rim.org/muslim/islam.htm In Him, Doc |
