NASB | 1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is keeping the commandments of God. |
Bible Question: Does anyone know how can Paul make a distinction between keeping the commandments of God and being circumsized? I know Christians don't get circumsized today, but how would Paul's hearers have known that the law that commanded circumcision was no longer applicable to them? |
Bible Answer: This looks like it might be a homework question also, perhaps not. In any case almost all of Paul's gospels deal with the problem. Read Romans chapters 2,3 and 4 and Galatians chapter 5. In these verses Paul discusses circumcision and how it relates to us as viewed from the Old Testament and in the New Testament. |
