Bible Note: I accept that since the Holy Spirit lives within me, and my body is the Temple of God's as Paul says and that the Spirit needs to be cared for appropriately. It is like caring for the physical building (the church) or for that matter being a good steward of everything God has entrusted us with. I take more thought of that, when it comes to the keeping of my own body in which God's Spirit lives of course. You may also agree or not that when Paul is talking about the temple being corrupted and talks about false doctrine, clearly a spiritual attacks or when he speaks about the temple being destroyed I believe he is speaking about the physical body. For instance I believe the spirit within us can be harmed by sexual sin. Engaging for instance in adultery with our physical body harms us spiritually. If this is true then what takes place with our physical body can effect our spiritual nature. If so then why is not smoking or over eating which affects our bodies negatively any different. I guess the question may lie with, should we be knowingly do things to God's temple which harm it physically and may or may not also harm us spiritually. |
