AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 15:29 ¶ Otherwise, what will those do who are being baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people even baptized for them? |
Bible Question (short): baptism on behalf of the dead? |
Question (full): According to the verse above, does it mean that there was baptism on behalf of those who are dead during the times of Apostle Paul? And if that be the case, what was the use for it? It is a strange thing, but I seek to understand - someone challenges me to tell me that this justifies the act of offering prayers on behalf of those who have departed, which I find most strange. Please share what you have. Thank you. |
