Bible Question:
There are many scriptures that relate to being "in Christ," such as 2Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. What is the full meaning of In Christ? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Bodie, The best way that I can describe, “being in Christ” would be that at particular point in time when one puts their total faith and trust in the Person of Jesus Christ, God the Father places those individuals “positionally” into the person of His Son; it's a work of God. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. God imputed our sins to Christ on the cross and if we will put all of our faith in Jesus, God’s Son, God will impute His righteousness to that believer. It’s that same thing as the fact that we were in Adam, “positionally” the moment that Adam sinned. As a result, at the point of birth, we are born physically alive and spiritually dead. 1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Thus the need to be born again. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. Man doesn’t have to believe what God did for him in the person of God’s Son, Jesus “but” that’s the only plan that God has to redeem mankind to himself. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Believers will not be any closer to God in the future then they are at the point of salvation, “positionally”. The position of the believer in Christ can not be improved on; it’s a work of God. Have you come to the point yet in your spiritual walk where you know you have eternal life or are you still working on it? Have a great day, CDBJ |
