Bible Note: Dear George, In a previous you said "Toungs edify the individual, nothing and no one else." I showed that Paul states tongues is a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. 1 Cor 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; You said " But I do know what Gods word says about the utterance of such." Frankly George, I am at a loss as to what you are talking about! God never said we can have any gift for the asking. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to those whom God is pleased to give them to. They are distibuted among the body according to God's will. It is also likely that the miraculous sign gifts were for the early church and began to disappear as the cannon of Scripture was coming to perfection.
