AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God]. |
Subject: Why so blind? |
Bible Note: George, 1 Cor 12:30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 1 Cor 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; Paul said that not all believers are given the gift, and that, tongues are for a sign to unbelievers. In my 10 years as a member of a pentacostal church, NOT ONCE did I hear a person speak in german or chinese or swahili. Their words were ALWAYS in (what was called) a heavenly or angelic language. The message was invariably an exhortation or "prophetic" word to the congregation. But prophecy itself is a different gift from tongues, and prophecy is for believers. And if tongues is for unbelievers, why are people using tongues to issue prophecy? Why not simply prophecy in the the native language of the congregation? The Bereans were not afraid to ask Paul to prove his doctrine with Scripture; neither should we be shy about asking our pastors and teachers to do the same. Fod Bless, John |
