AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:1 ¶ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God's love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. |
Bible Question:
I have looked and tried to find the answer in the bible and the only thing i can even find on it is in: 1 Corinthians 14 Speaking in tongues: 1) Can any one who lives by Gods will and not their own speak in tongue? 2) The Christians who truly do live for God and Jesus only, can they receive the gift of speaking in tongues, or are you born with that gift? 3)What exactly does Hebrews talk about? When you can answer me please e-mail me at: TMiller1674@msn.com. Thank You, so much for taking the time to read my question. Please try to get back to me a.s.a.p., because i have tried to search and i can find nothing and i have asked so many people that are of Gods children and have not received any answers. Thank You So Much, and God Bless You All, Theresa Miller; age:16 |
Bible Answer: 1Cor 12:11 teaches us that the Holy Spirit divides the gifts of the Spirit among the Body of Christ as He wills. 1Cor 12:31 instructs us to desire the gifts of the Spirit, but that there is even something better than having those gifts. As for speaking in tongues specifically, you can ask God for that gift, however 1 Cor 14:12 and 13 gives further instruction as to what our motives should be. Keep on seeking after Him alone and He will lead you and guide you into ALL truth. Read Prov 3:5 and Psalms 139 that you may be secure in the knowledge of His enduring care for you as you trust in Him. |
