Bible Question:
Tim, since you know best What dose the verb given (didomi) mean in Greek ... in this verse and verse 8? Is it permanent? Searcher |
Bible Answer: Greetings Searcher! No! Father knows best! ;-) In both verses, 'didomi' is a Present, Passive, Indicative, 3rd Person, Plural verb. 'Didomi' basically means 'to give', or 'to entrust', or 'to distribute'. Nothing in the text indicates anything about permanence! One way to do so would have been to use the perfect tense. This would have an indicated an ongoing effect (in general). There is a different verb used in v. 11. It is 'diaireo'. It is a Present, Active, Participle. That clause could be translated, '....distributing to each as He wills'. One could make the case from this the distribution is a continuing process. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
