Subject: some people say you must speak in tongue |
Bible Note: Hi Hank, Isn’t it interesting that their message, in tongues, consisted of the Gospel message of Christ Jesus! Acts 2:11 (B) we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. Acts 2:21-24 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. The only Spiritual thing that a person with a dead spirit can understand is the Gospel message of Christ through the convicting work of the Holy Spirit John 16:7-9 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; This couple with the following, 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. This all adds up to the following bit of truth as you obviously know! 1 Cor. 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. 1 Cor. 14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
