Bible Note: Greetings Jesus777! Thanks for the response my friend! First of all, I am not sure what point you are trying to make. Secondly, I am not sure if you understood the point I was making. :-) I wasn't 'concerned' about the meaning of the verse. I was concerned about the inaccurate information given about the verse by the poster to whom I was responding. My point was simply this: The Greek of 1 Cor. 12:13 does not allow for the interpretation that baptism is 'taught' or 'learned' by the influence of the Holy Spirit. Rather, the text indicates either one of two things. Either the Holy Spirit is the One doing the baptism or the Holy Spirit is 'that' with which we are baptized. The poster I was responding to was denying both of these positions, which are supported by the text. Finally, I would highly recommend that you not use a paraphrase for serious study.
