Bible Note: Rowdy: I can never be quite sure of what you're saying in regard to soteriology. On one post you seem to say you believe in salvation by grace alone, in another you seem to doubt whether you're in God's family because you may have forgotten to repent of a sin or two or fallen short of living a blameless, holy life. So, what are you saying? Are you saying that grace saves but works maintain salvation? As I've suggested before, Rowdy, it's impossible to make theological sense without a working knowledge of theological terms. From where I sit, you are still confused about what the following terms actually mean: grace, faith, works, regeneration, eternal life, repentence, justifcation, sanctification, and Christ's atonement and propitiation; the orthodox doctrine of the perseverance of the saints, a.k.a., the eternal security of the believer; what is meant by God's sovereignty; and what the Bible teaches about God's role in salvation -- from "being saved to keeping saved" -- versus man's role. Unless one takes these soteriological fundamentals from Scripture, and understands and accepts them without inserting his own opinions, he will spend a lifetime jumping all over the board, confused and confusing others. --Hank |
