NASB | 1 Corinthians 11:16 But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 11:16 Now if anyone is inclined to be contentious [about this], we have no other practice [in worship than this], nor do the churches of God [in general]. |
Bible Question:
Is this sarcasm? Is it like saying, If someone argues against church buildings then we don't have any buildings. Not in New York or Los Angeles or anywhere else. Which would mean, open your eyes and see what is taking place in all the assemblies. So, were the women wearing veils? When did it get modified to 'hats?' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veil |
Bible Answer: That is an interesting article Thomas, thank you. This is a hotly debated topic concerning this passage in I Corinthians regarding veils, headcoverings. I have not done an indepth study of I Corithians as some people have done such as a lady named Cheryl Schatz. She addresses the issue in a question about “Is short hair a sin for a woman?” I do not wish to get in a debate about headcoverings as I have not studied it. Thank you again for your article, it shows the history, traditions in a practical way. Blessings - Val |
