NASB | 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word--He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. |
Subject: what about depression |
Bible Note: brenda L, Godbless your ever loving heart. Thanx so much for the reference to the web site you refered to. It stated what I've sensed in my heart for many years. For a lot of years those of us who have struggled with this very issue and other issues relating to mental health it was often assumed to be related to someone being in sin. How unfortunate.1 Corinthians 10:13 is so apropo here. When Jesus died on the cross he covered it all. Our healing in what ever area of our life it takes be it physical, mental(emotional).],and spiritual was made possible because of Christs sacrifice on the cross. Depression or any other area of mental illness is like sickness. when one is sick they go to the doctor.Thank God for being able to get help. It took me a lot of years to ask for help for my depression. There is no shame in asking for help.Healing is part of God's divine providence and is part of Gods plan for all of us. Between all my brothers and sisters in Christ and doctor God gives me the strength and faith I need daily. In closing I'd like to share this one scripture, Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you.Declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. What a powerful passage of scripture. This is something each and every one of us can believe and claim. Brenda my dear sister thanx so much for this your post it will be a source of encouragement for thos who read it and take to heart the info and advice contained in the web site you refered to.
