Bible Question: Will baptism alone save us? |
Bible Answer: Why did Jesus die? Heb.9:22 "W/o the shedding of blood there is no remission..." Baptism will not and do not save. Baptism is only a symbolism, an outward sign of the inward conversion experience. The convert identifies with Christ's death. At baptism the believer identifies with Christ's death, burial and resurrection. When the believer is submerged, he symbolically dies to the "old Man" and is buried to become a new creation in Christ when he comes up out of the water. One can only be saved by the blood of Christ, alone, and nothing else. I may ask, why was Jesus baptised? Mark 1:10. Baptism is not for the purpose of receiving salvation, but to begin a ministry in service, and worship. Note to that the thief on the cross was saved w/o water baptism. |
