Bible Question:
In Bible study tonight we were talking about feeling absent from God when we sin. I said, "That is because we know we are wrong, and we pull away from God in our guilt and shame" The instructor said "No, it is because God turns His back on you." I have a real problem with that statement. Is it true? Will God turn His back on you for sin? When he said that, it gave me a hopeless feeling. I love God with all my heart, but we ALL sin. |
Bible Answer: Hello saucybrat, I'd challenge the scriptural basis for what your instructor said. Christ paid the full penalty for our sin. Remember, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace" (NASB) The writer of Hebrews encourages us by saying in 10:17-18, "AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE." Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin." Further, Heb. 13:5-6 tells us: "Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" (NASB) I hope this helps, BradK |
