Bible Question (short): a more revealing light. |
Question (full): We all have our ups and downs, our spiritually strong and weak moments. Scripture tells us that we are to judge ourselves. When I do this I can imagine nothing other than what it is I know I deserve. And that, most assuredly isn’t what I desire. Though I know without a doubt that my Savior died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins, I also know, that for every promise in scripture, there is a requirement. There are two sides to every covenant. Try as I may, I cannot uphold my side. My spirit indeed is willing, but my flesh is weak. I do not succumb to the temptation of believing that the only requirement for salvation is to believe, for I know that one must also repent, and that even the demons themselves believe and tremble. Though I am very familiar with scripture, it is when I am weakest that I learn the most. Often I am put in mind of a very familiar passage in a more revealing light. Where do you go when in doubt concerning your salvation? GB |
