NASB | Romans 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled and bewildered by them]. I do not practice what I want to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate [and yielding to my human nature, my worldliness--my sinful capacity]. |
Bible Question: Why do people sin even though they know it's wrong? |
Bible Answer: In addition to Emmanus good response, I'd add these verses from: James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. After reading and analyzing all of these and those as quoted by Emmanus, we have to assume that the average person chooses to sin because they have determined to go ahead and take a chance that they will have time to repent and get forgiveness before dying or meeting Jeseus in Judgment. What would be your thoughts on the matter? God bless. |
