Bible Question: what is the wages of sin? |
Bible Answer: Greetings wisdom111! Great questions! The word of God says the wages of sin is death. See Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. But don’t stop there. Make sure you read the last part of the verse! I say it’s a great question because the word of God teaches us we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). And we all need to know what God’s word says about it. It says we are all sinners and fall short of God’s glory. The wages are the payment that must be paid for sin. It’s true, we are all sinners and God tells us so in His word. Are you ready for the best part? The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price for us (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV) 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures Notice in verse 3 it says “…that Christ died for our sins …” and in verse 4 it says “…he was buried, and rose again…” Do you believe you are a sinner? Do you understand and believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that God raised him up again the third day and that the only way we can be saved is through Him? Do you confess Jesus as your Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead? Romans 10:9 (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. God bless and thanks for the great question! Steve |
