Bible Question:
Hi, I am studying Romans 5:4. When I arrive to "proven character" (Strong’s G1382), it’s says experience, proof, trial. NASB and Amplified says proven character, a very different from my point of view, because experience does not necessarily give a proven character, or proof because IMHO, is going to take place or is taking place, and proven character is all the process to finally succeeding in the proof. Please explain, Thanks and God Bless, Lorenzo |
Bible Answer: Greetings Lorenzo! The word 'dokime', which is translated as 'character' can refer either to the 'process of being tested' or the 'result of being tested'. It is used in the former sense in 2 Cor. 8:2 and 2 Cor. 13:3. It is used in the latter sense in Rom. 5:4, 2 Cor. 6:9, Phil. 2:22, and 2 Cor. 9:13.
