AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 5:4 and endurance, proven character (spiritual maturity); and proven character, hope and confident assurance [of eternal salvation]. |
Bible Question:
Hi, I am studying Romans 5:4. When I arrive to "proven character" (Strong’s G1382), it’s says experience, proof, trial. NASB and Amplified says proven character, a very different from my point of view, because experience does not necessarily give a proven character, or proof because IMHO, is going to take place or is taking place, and proven character is all the process to finally succeeding in the proof. Please explain, Thanks and God Bless, Lorenzo |
Bible Answer: Lorenzo Perhaps the NLT says it best "And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation." As to why the NASB used proven character I don't know. You may want to write to Lockman and ask them what the criteria was that they used to translate dokime into proven character. EdB |
