Bible Question: EdB or anybody else: do you think the gentiles were only accountable for what their consciences told them was wrong? I know Paul says that he did not know what coveting was, until the Law. So any coveting he did before he read the law, he would not be held accountable for? |
Bible Answer: TonyM I think the gentiles were accountable for what they didn't do. Romans 1 says nature testifies of God. Humans have an propensity to seek out, to understand, to explore. Now nature is testifying that there is a God yet the Gentiles like many of us instead of seeking God out sought to invent their own, therefore once again becoming masters of their destiny. Sin is rebellion against God it is not just breaking one of God’s rules or commandments but rather the act of rebelling against what God is. Our refusal to submit to Him either by creating another god or ignoring God or by acts of open rebellion such as breaking one of God's laws/commandments is still sin. Yes I think the Gentiles will be held accountable for doing what their conscience told them was wrong. Their conscience along with nature told them there was a God and that they needed to seek Him. Instead they choose to ignore, invent their own or deny there was a God. EdB |
