Bible Question: Righteousness was earned? |
Bible Answer: Hello Friendangel, I think you're missing the point with your question here. I'm not sure where you would conclude that "Righteousness was earned?" from Rom. 4:1- or for that matter the entire Epistle! The key to understanding Romans is the doctrine of justification by faith. The answer is found in the following 2 verses: Rom 4:2- For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. Rom 4:3- For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." In addition, I'd refer you to Hebrews 11- the great "Faith Hall of Fame." Go and read through that chapter and then re-read Romans 4 again. If this Forum can be of further help to you, please feel free to ask some more questions:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
