Bible Question: What did Jesus give up for us? Someone told me he gave up his life. Did he give up his life or three days of his life? |
Bible Answer: Hi mmat40, Welcome to the forum. Jesus gave up His life. The Scriptures tell us that on the cross "He gave up the spirit." He breathed His last breath and died. Now one might ask something like "Is God dead?" or "How is it that God can die?" God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son. He was one of a kind; He was God in flesh. 2 Corinthians 5:14, NKJ, "For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again." The passage goes on to tell us that although Jesus came in the likeness of men we no longer know Him that way. In fact we look at people in a new way because if we believe that Jesus was God then we look at all things with spiritual eyes. God is the One who reconciled us to Himself, through Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 5:18. I believe that a study of the book of Hebrews also would be helpful to you. See Hebrews 8:16-28. From the heart, Ray |
