Bible Note: disciplerami: "For if by one man's offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life". Romans 5:17-18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath no believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18) "By the offense of one (Adam)judgment came upon all men" This is not my idea, this is what God says in his word in many different ways. It is God who finds all the world "guilty" Romans 3:19 It is God through Paul who writes "We have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin" Rom. 3:9 The Lord Jesus reminds that those who have not believed on him are "condemned already" John 3:18 In the state which we were born we are already found guilty. Our sinful nature proves itself in our actions "There is none that understandeth, there is none which seeketh after God" Rom. 3:11 If God were to leave us alone we would remain in our guilty state throughout our life and would die condemned. This is where the grace of God comes in and even though we are undeserving of such love, he works within our hearts by his Spirit and many who were guilty are justified (cleared of all guilt) through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the reason I used the word "legally". Adam had broken God's law and as such plunged the entire human race into a place of condemnation before God. In contrast, the Lord Jesus Christ in his obedience even to the death of the cross has brought life and justification to those who believe. |
