Bible Question: Can women hold a position of leadership according to NT scripture. |
Bible Answer: Romans 16 1. I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant[1] of the church in Cenchrea. 2. I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been a great help to many people, including me. 3. Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. 4. They risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them. 5. Greet also the church that meets at their house. Greet my dear friend Epenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in the province of Asia. 6. Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you. I am female and do work in Prison ministry.. (Both my husband and myself travel throughout our state for Prison ministry and we both questioned this and sought God deeply). I heard Joyce Myers and the Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin of Rhema Bible School address this very issue. God Showed me this scripture and it blessed me so very much. God does not contradict Himself.. it is our interpretation that gets us in trouble. See here how Paul puts this: Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. He Calls them his FELLOW WORKERS in CHRIST. Right along side of him. As I have traveled and preached I have seen one thing... there are many more women going to the prisons, nursing homes, hospitals etc than men. God needs us all. we all have a plan and purpose, Jer 29:11. I Have been a part of a wonderful ministry and pray that more men and women do hear the calling of our Heavenly Father. It is a joy, an honor and a blessing to be HIS hands and feet. Joyce Meyer brought up a point that she came across as she researched this very subject. She said that in many of the translations and books that she read referred to the scripture that asks that women keep quiet at church was actually due to their lack of education. They would interrupt the "Minister" and ask what they meant and it was not appropriate. So in turn, this was taken out of context and many religions refuse to allow women as ministers. Because of this mis-interpretation. |
