Bible Question: A group of girls I work with like to get together once a month or so to do something together. This month they have decided they want to go to a local casino. I do not feel comfortable there and could probably just beg off, but I feel that as a Christian, I need to give an answer for my convictions. What does the Bible specifically say about gambling? How can I answer their questions, especially since the one girl who had this idea is very vocal about her Christianity and needs to hear a Biblically based answer. Thanks for any help. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Saltoftheearth, I agree with what the blue letter bible site says. Gambling is not a sin however, sin does enter in if you let the gambling rule your life. For instance drinking alcohol is not a sin but it becomes a sin when you overindulge and become drunk because is takes your eyes off of what is important - Jesus. Sin can also come in in my opinion if winnnings are not tithed upon since it is a type of income. I also agree with Wild Irish Shoot - if you feel convicted not to go then don't go. Jesus has a reason for putting that conviction in your heart. Hope this helps. prayon |
