Bible Question: Is swearing wrong? What words are constituted as swearing? Why are some words considered profanity while others are excepted? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Louierocks, The Bible denouces cursing, and it should not be practiced by Christians (Col. 6:4).. Romans 12:14, Exodus 22:28, James 3:9 Romans 12:14 "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse." Ex 22:28 "You shall not curse God, nor curse a ruler of your people." James 3:9 "With it we bless (our) Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God;" I will not go into particular words, since anything from haughtiness to lewd speech to gossip is unwholesome and should not be part of our lives as Christians.
