NASB | Romans 11:1 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 11:1 I say then, has God rejected and disowned His people? Certainly not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. [1 Sam 12:22; Jer 31:37; 33:24-26; Phil 3:5] |
Bible Question: Yes that does help but what about those that do not believe - did God originally grant them grace but because of free will they chose not to believe or are they not "chosen" (the ones written in the Book of Life"? |
Bible Answer: Hi smilin4Him, Now that is the big question! :-) This is at the heart of the Calvinism/Arminianism debate. Given the opportunity we could all line up on differing sides of that question, but because of the unending debate that tends to inspire, we have agreed to not try to settle it here on this forum. If you search the archives under Calvinism and Arminianism, you can read from the many many posts that have already been written, and hopefully this will aquaint you sufficiently with the arguments. But study the Bible, and consider all passages that refer to choosing and being chosen, and let the Lord lead you. If you wish to contact me directly to discuss this, my email is in my profile, and I would be happy to discuss it with you. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
