Bible Question: at what point is someone saved/forgiven of their sins? at baptism? (acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:21, Romans 6:1-5), at the laying on of hands? (Acts 8:16-17), just by believing in Jesus?, by repentance?, when is it? |
Bible Answer: Acts 22:16 tells us that in baptism our sins are washed away? Saul of Tarsus (Paul the apostle)had asked Jesus, who met him on the road to Damascus, "What must I do" v10, and was told by Jesus that his question would be answered in Damascus. Three days later during which he was fasting and praying, Acts 9:9,11, Saul obeyed the instruction in answer to his question and was baptised, Acts 9:18. Also note that the apostle Peter told believer in Acts 2 to "repent AND be baptised everyone of you ... FOR the remission of sins" verse 38. Jesus commisioned his disciples to preach the gospel to everyone, "he that believeth AND is baptised shall be saved ..." Mark 16:15-16. There is no forgiveness of sins before baptism. |
