Subject: Can someone help me get to God? |
Bible Note: Prazn You said, "I don't think that anyone should "hang their spiritual hat" on any individual minister's teachings." And you also said, "So, I'm encouraged that the Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit "will guide us into all truth"." Let me ask two questions based on this: The first, if you can't/won't hang your spiritual hat on what a preacher says why listen to him at all? Second how would you know if the Holy Spirit revealed the truth to you or not? How do you know it isn't something that satisfies your human logic, feeds your existing prejudices and beliefs, isn't a lie or a deception from the adversary. I hear so many say "I'm lead of the Holy Spirit" yet they hold beliefs that are in contradiction to the scripture, or are based on single verses that most of the time are ripped from context. Unless we are willing to become Bible scholars and/or theologians I think it time we begin to seek out men and women who teach truth we can hang our spiritual hats on and be discipled by them. The problem in the church today is everyone is being "lead" by the Holy spirit and doing, saying, and believing what ever they want. EdB |
