Subject: Can a man know God without a Bible? |
Bible Note: Let me clarify. Romans 10 would not contradict what I am about to say. When you think about men who have known God and known Him on a level equaled by few others does not Enoch come to mind? And when we consider that the testimony is that that He pleased God to such a degree that God took him, we know that Enoch had great faith and walked with God according to the testimony. Have you considered that Enoch had no scriptures that we know of. And yet he did have scripture but not the kind we think of. Enoch prophesied of the coming of the Lord with ten thousands of His saints and to execute judgement on the ungodly according to Jude and so we assume Enoch had revelation of the Divine Word, but we assume it was preached, starting from Adam and not written scriptures until Moses. What do you think? Rom 10 is not in contradiction to this as it's emphasis is on preaching as well. Let me qualify my statements. I am a firm believer in the written Word. I don't really have faith for anything I do not read in the scripture. But is it not an interesting concept that in Enochs generation you have men living on earth for lifespans of nearly 1000 years and remaining holy and knowing God such as Noah with no written scripture? Think about it. Men who lived a thousands years! (900 close enough) |
