Bible Question:
How do I hear the Lord speak to me? What do I need to do to hear Him? |
Bible Answer: I am just learning to hear the voice of God myself but in the last year this is what I have concluded and it is working for me. I hear from God in several different ways. My analysis is simple, but I believe in making things simple - why try to over complicate things. The first thing I had to realize is that God does not speak audibly very often. Some people have told me they heard the audible voice of God, but normally this doesn't take place for most people. Secondly I had to take time to listen, I think our ability to hear God depends on our ability to listen to God. I do this through prayer - prayer for me is a two way conversationg - not just me doing all the talking - telling God what I need everyday. I make sure to give him an opportunity to speak back to me as I seek answers. The other ways I hear from God are 1) through his word - just focusing on scripture that speaks to me - and trying only to think how it applies to me - not to others. 2) through other people - God will speak to us through others or through events and circumstances - we need to keep in mind that God will never tell us anything that contradicts his word. 3) God speaks often through that still small voice called the Holy Spirit - if we listen he is speaking to us. |
